Metronomics is not only a metronome, but a tool designed to help build a solid sense of time and rhythmic security. Its a new kind of metronome -- use Metronomics to generate random patterns, sequenced grooves, or a combination of both to help you practice with more than just your typical click track. Enough features to keep a professional busy for years or start a beginner on the right track.

The only metronome that gives you complete control over how subdivisions are played -- add subdivisions of any type (including custom subdivisions like 5/7) and have them played all the time, at random intervals, or in a sequenced pattern.

Now available across platforms for both iOS and macOS -- the most powerful metronome, available for all of your devices.

Features:
- Choose from 40 different samples for each subdivision
- Generate patterns using random or sequenced variations of different subdivisions
- Include built-in preset patterns such as claves or ride cymbal patterns
- Choose any number of beats per measure (with any denominator) you like or practice mixed meters such as 4/4 + 3/8 + 5/4 where the segments of the bar get accented automatically
- Use any type of subdivision. Common types like quarter notes, sixteenth notes, eighth triplets, etc, or create your own. 5/7, 23/4, no problem!
- Take a rhythm and use the "offset" feature to move it to different parts of the measure to practice with.
- Set the metronome to speed up or slow down by a given amount after a set number of measures
- Have Metronomics start with a count off
- Set the metronome to run for a certain amount of time
- Share saved metronomes back and forth with other Metronomics users
- Track your metronome usage. App shows how much youve practiced with it each day and total (optionally turn off time tracking)
- Train yourself with "independence" mode where you can set some bars to be inaudible -- keep the time going yourself until the click starts again
- Variable swing feel -- choose how much each subdivision swings
- Speech sounds for counting up to 10 that can be assigned to any subdivision (English language only)
- Play in the background
- Normalized sounds for good volume
- Manual (plus videos) describing how to use all the features and hints about how they might be useful

Pro subscription features:
- Wheel view that allows you to visualize the passage of subdivisions with geometric shapes
- Grid view that lets you easily sequence patterns on a grid much like a drum machine, but with the more-powerful features of Metronomics
- Inspector mode -- graph your own playing with microphone or MIDI input and see how you line up with the metronome
- iCloud sync -- sync your saved metronomes via iCloud drive
- MIDI output -- set subdivisions to send MIDI data to outside MIDI synths or use an on-board synthesizer

Pros and cons of Metronomics Metronome app for iPhone and iPad

Metronomics Metronome app good for

The best metronome but put a record option in the iphone version (like the mac version)...
I am a professional musician. I use this metronome since one week and have to say that this is the best and most well designed app I have used so far! Well done!
This metronome is amazingly flexible. Im impressed by the options it provides. It will surely replace all metronomes Ive tried so far. If I could make a wish Id like to see some kind of cloud sync (dropbox?) added and a short cut to be able to listen to all the available sounds where you can pick them. But its really really a great app!!!
I found this app very useful and handy. Easy to work with aswell.
Great metronome/ drum machine. Most fun I have had practicing with a metronome in years!
Okay, so after 1h32m of usage, this app seems truly excellent! Finally a metronome capable of sequencing, polyrhythms, random variation, and training sequences. The variety of sounds is wide, and the app itself seems accurate and stable. The interface is very well thought out, given the complex functionality and the small screen real estate to work with. Currently running on iPhone 3GS with iOS 6.1.3. Well done, Mr. Nastos!

Some bad moments

This app does more than the doctor beat at a much lower price. Just buy it!
I was just looking for a metronome app but this is much much more than that. It has features beyond my wildest expectations, an intuitive and easy user interface, excellent documentation and much more. It not only provides just about any beat or rhythm I needed but also has taught me much about them. A lot of thought went into this app. I highly recommend it
My wife is using this while practicing with cello. She wishes the volume would go louder, but loves it!!
My sax teacher made this app and it is great it is fun to play with and works great for keeping beat. I use this to practice all the time now.
Maybe its me....maybe its because I dont know how to read music, but I think this app is complicated to use. Im sure it does all kinds of good things, but I just wanted something simple that gives me the timing like a real traditional Metronome. Plus, I think the price is pretty steep.
The concept and implementation of this metronome are innovative and relatively user friendly. It is one of the few metronomes with polyrhythmic functions and self-timing training where the beat can be silenced in several ways, helping you develop your own sense of time internally without robotic reliance on the click. In those regards, everything works as advertised and the click is completely accurate. However, where this app falls short, and the reason I dont use it much is the poor quality of sounds. There are only two from the list that I find practical to use while I practice drums. The rest are either harsh, too squashed sounding, have poor fades on the end, or they dont cut enough to be heard clearly. This app is very well thought out and designed, and since its shortcomings can be overcome, Im giving it 3 out of 5 stars. More attention to useful sounds is the only thing lacking, although thats a somewhat large drawback.
